Devotee’s Experiences

Prasanthi Nilayam Ashram

In 1940, Baba’s devotees built an Ashram at Puttaparthi. Baba named it Prasanthi Nilayam, the abode of supreme peace. Over the years it has expanded from a single mandir to becoming the largest ashram in India.  The Sarva Dharma Stupi built in 1975 stands 50 feet high and depicts the symbols of the world’s major religions, namely, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and Zoroastrianism.

Today an estimated 55 million devotees worldwide, professing various faiths and hailing from all walks of life worship Him as the Supreme Avatar. Thousands gather every day at Prasanthi Nilayam for His Darshan, Sparshan and Sambarshan. He moves among devotees blessing them and providing spiritual succour and solace.

Using Prasanthi Nilayam as His laboratory, Baba has established free hospitals, free schools and colleges, vast projects for free drinking water and free housing projects that have set an international precedent and captured the imagination of all. The Education in Human Values (EHV) program is taught in schools in over 100 countries. The EHV program seeks to instil the knowledge of spiritual reality in students and “brings out the latent divinity” therein. Education which fosters humility, reverence, compassion, forbearance, sacrifice and self-control is real education.

True to His declaration – “My Life is My Message”, He has inspired and continues to inspire millions of His devotees worldwide by His personal example to live the ideal that service to man is service to God. He is an inexhaustible reservoir of pure selfless love.

The Four Principles laid down by Baba:

1. There is only one religion, the religion of love.

2. There is only one language, the language of the heart.

3. There is only one race, the race of humanity.

4. There is only one God, and He is omnipresent.

At the beginning of every discourse Swami addresses all in attendance as, “Embodiments of Divine Love.” This fundamental truth of man’s divine nature is the heart of His message and mission.

“If man has no love in him and if he does not share it with all beings, he is but a burden to the earth. God will not ask you when and where did you do service. He will ask, ‘With what motive did you do it? What was the intention that prompted you’? You may weigh the service you have undertaken and boast of its quantity, but God seeks quality, the quality of the heart, the purity of the mind, the holiness of the motive.”

To see Sathya Sai Baba is to catch a glimpse of these divine qualities and the glory, majesty and the miraculous nature of God.  As Sri Vasantha Sai puts it…

My life! My soul! Prabhu! Sai Natha!

My Prema is mere dust compared to the Prema You pour on me.

Swami, shower Thy grace of peace and bliss on each one who reads our story!

Victory to the world’s greatest Supreme Avatar Sri Sathya Sai Baba!

Long life for many millions of years!

Long life to the feet that bestow infinite grace!

Long life to the mercy that makes Kali into the  Golden Age!

Long life to His glory that changes maya!
